Alan Quinlan is ready to return

MUNSTER flanker Alan Quinlan will be available for selection for Friday night’s crunch Magners League tie with the Cardiff Blues after serving his 12-week ban for ‘making contact with the eye area’ of Leinster captain Leo Cullen during the Heineken Cup semi-final.

Quinlan was suspended when video pictures showed he had made contact with Cullen’s right eye during the big Croke Park semi-final clash on 2 May. As the off-season was not included in the suspension period, Quinlan is eligible to resume playing from this Thursday, September 10.
Holders Munster will hope to return to winning ways in their first home Magners League game of the season at Thomond Park this Friday night (7.05pm).
Tony McGahan’s men suffered a disappointing 22-9 defeat at the hands of the Glasgow Warriors in their opening game of the league at Firhill on Friday last.
Meanwhile Young Munster and UL-Bohemian will meet in the Limerick Charity Cup final after securing semi-final wins over Shannon and Garryowen respectively at the weekend - the final will be played on September 26 next.
The draw has also been made for the opening two rounds of the AIB Cup.
Limerick’s three AIL Division 2 sides Old Crescent, Bruff and Thomond have all been handed away ties in the opening round. The four locally-based Division 1 sides enter the competition at the second round stage.
Selected games from the AIB Cup First Round Draw: Rainey Old Boys v Old Crescent, Clonakilty v Bruff, Highfield v Thomond.
Selected matches from the AIB Cup Second Round Draw: St. Mary’s v Clonakilty or Bruff, Young Munster v Terenure or Connemara, UL Bohemian v Belfast Harlequins or Naas, Navan or Instonians v Garryowen, Highfield or Thomond v Midleton or UCD, Rainey OB or Old Crescent v Clontarf, Shannon v Buccaneers, Dolphin v Barnhall or Suttonians.
