Twenty-four apply to become first full-time Limerick GAA secretary

TWENTY-four individials have applied to become Limerick GAA’s first ever full-time County Board Secretary.
A number of the current County Board officials are understood to have applied to fill the newly-created paid administrative position.
Limerick GAA chairman Liam Lenihan (pictured below) informed this Tuesday’s County Board meeting in Claughaun that he will be sitting on the interview panel and that a short-list is to be drawn up meaning that not all applicants will be afforded an interview.
Croke Park’s Human Resources Officer Fiona O’Rourke will lead the interview process.

Under-21 hurling manager
Just two people remain in contention to succeed Ciaran Carey as Limerick under-21 hurling manager. The new manager will be appointed on March 19.
Kilmallock’s Mick Heelan has withdrawn from the race, leaving just Claughaun’s Leo O’Connor and Limerick Leader columnist Martin Kiely.
“We have interviewed the two remaining candidates and a decision will be made on March 19,” said Liam Lenihan.

Master fixture list
MUCH of the debate at this week’s County Board meeting centred around the proposed Master Fixture list.
The fixtures circulated to all clubs, proposed to play the first round of the county senior hurling championship on May 31 with round two on June 21.
Delegates have sought changes to the round one dates, citing Third Level and Leaving Certificate exam commitments for some players.
Assistant chairman Mickey O’Sullivan has asked clubs to submitt proposals as soon as possible.
What is confirmed is that the newly-restructured All-County Leagues are due to start in the coming weeks.
The football league will commence on Tuesday, March 31 with the hurling starting on Tuesday, April 7. The new line-ups for the leagues were also revealed, while commitments were again made that inter-county players will be available to play with their clubs.
