IT’S great to see the Limerick Ladies Football side getting an opportunity to share the limelight with the Limerick senior hurlers next Sunday.
Maire Halvey’s county side are playing Antrim in the quarter-final of the National League and Limerick were favoured with a home draw.
Following a request from the Ladies Football Board, the quarter-final was fixed for 12.45pm in the Gaelic Grounds, ahead of the Limerick v Waterford NHL tie at 2.30pm.
While Ladies Football continues to thrive across the country, Limerick is yet to make a national impact.
St. Ailbe’s maestro Maire Halvey has taken over as manager this season and has introduced much of the underage talent across the county to the senior squad.
Supporters are urged to travel to the Gaelic Grounds early on Sunday and add voice to the efforts of Dymphna O’Brien and colleagues.
Knockaderry
KNOCKADERRY GAA have another inter-county hurler. Hot on the heels of Tom Condon’s continuing success with Justin McCarthy’s Limerick, Donagh O’Sullivan has thrown his lot in with the Louth senior hurlers.
O’Sullivan has resided in the north-east in recent years, but has now decided to switch his inter-county alliegance.
He is to continue to hurl with Knockaderry, but will benefit from the training with the Division Three National League side.
Last season former Ballybricken hurler Tony Teefy lined out at full-back with the Wee County.
Added to the Condon and O’Sullivan elevation to inter-county standard, is the recent Fitzgibbon Cup medal won by another clubman, Don Hanley.
St. Patrick’s
ST Patrick’s GAA club are appealing for the backing of all Limerick GAA fans this Saturday when the Rhebogue-based club play in the semi-final of RTE’S reality TV show, Celebrity Bainisteoir. The television cameras will be in play when St. Pat’s play Glasdrumman from Down at 1pm on Saturday in their club grounds.
